| What We Believe |
|
We believe that the
Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe that the Bible constitutes as the
only perfect rule and final authority in all matters pertaining to Christian
faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16-17 We believe there is
one God existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in
God the Father who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. Deuteronomy
6:4; I Peter 1:15 We believe that Jesus
Christ is God's eternal Son. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life,
miracles, and teachings. We believe that He died in our place, rose again,
ascended into heaven and continued to intercede for His people. We believe that
He is coming again to take His children to be with Him forever. Matthew
1:18-2:12; Acts 1:9-11, 2:22-24; Romans 8:34 We believe that all of
humanity has been stained by sin making humans subject to God's anger and
condemnation. We believe that all are justified solely by the grace of God
through faith in Christ who is the only one worthy to mediate between God and
humanity. We believe that turning from sin and trusting in God are essential
attitudes to be found in followers of Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 We believe in the Holy
Spirit who was sent by the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, to
recreate those who are dead in sin and call them to turn from sin. The Holy
Spirit also instructs, conforms, refines, and enables God's children. We believe
in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of all the Biblical
gifts of the Spirit. John 14:26;
Acts 1:8; John 16:8 We believe that the
church is the living, growing entity of which Jesus Christ is the head and all
saved persons are members. We hold it to be the mission of the church of Christ
to proclaim the gospel to all people. We also believe that we are called to lead
members toward greater Christ-likeness as we seek to love God with all our
heart, soul, mind, and strength and who love their neighbor as themselves.
Colossians 1:18, 3:17; Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 10:27 We believe that the
Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the church: Baptism and The
Lord's Supper. We believe that these two observances should be administered
until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 2:38,42 We believe in the
unity and common call to ministry of all believers who together form the one
universal Church. Together with this body we look with faith for the triumph of
righteousness and eternal life. I Peter 2:9; Titus 2:13 We believe in the
imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take out His followers, the Church,
to be with Him forever. We believe that our bodies will be resurrected, in the
final judgment, and in the eternal joy of the believers in heaven and eternal
separation of the lost in hell. Matthew 13:41-43, 24:42; Revelation 19:7;
